KABUL: The government of Afghanistan has praised Pakistani interior minister for what Kabul calls “revelation” on Islamabad’s relation with the Taliban and supporting the group’s fighters.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Pakistan interior minister, in a recent interview with Pakistan’s Geo News broadcaster, admitted that the families of most of Taliban leaders are in Pakistan.
Ahmed revealed that those Taliban who die in Afghanistan are buried in Pakistan soil and their wounded fighters are treated there.
“I would like to praise Sheikh Rashid for his revelations about Pakistan support of Taliban. We need brave Pakistanis to speak on attack against Afghanistan,” Hamdullah Moheb, President Ghani’s National Security Adviser, said Monday.
Rashid had called on Afghan Taliban not to allow Pakistani Taliban known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to stay and work in Afghan soil.
“The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan has never been in Afghanistan and is not active here. This movement is recognized as a terrorist group and the enemy of peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region,” Afghan foreign ministry said in reaction to Rashid’s statements.
Afghanistan has frequently called on all countries particularly Pakistan to treat against terrorist groups indiscriminately.
Ghani’s deputy Amrullah Saleh warned that Pakistani would pay a high price for supporting Taliban.
