KABUL: The government of Pakistan has blocked air route for airplanes flying between Afghanistan and India, the Afghan Civil Aviation Authority said Wednesday, a move taken after Indian fighter jets attacked Pakistani-controlled area of Kashmir in an apparent retaliation to a suicide attack that targeted Indian army convoy, killing tens of soldiers.
The aviation authority said in a statement that there would be no flights between Kabul and New Delhi until political problems between the two nuclear armed neighbors are resolved.
Meanwhile, the Kam Air, a private Afghan airline said that a passenger plane flying to New Delhi returned Kabul after it was not allowed by Pakistani government to cross the country’s air.
The airline called tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi as the reason of its flight.
India is one of the main countries that Afghan air taxis transport people and goods. Most of Afghan passengers who travel to India are people who go there for medical treatments.
