KABUL: Women in Paktia province express support for the ongoing peace efforts, saying they hope the country be dominated by a durable peace in the New Afghan Year.
These women call on the government and Taliban to resort to peace this year.
In a gathering held Friday in Gardez city, the provincial capital, the women’s representatives from the province, said the government and Taliban need to open a new chapter in the country by joining the peace efforts and reach a political agreement.
Deputy provincial governor asked the province’s women to work hard for peace and stability.
The gathering said that women were the most vulnerable of war, adding that armed opposition have to abandon war considering the critical situation of the country.
They believe that Taliban would pay respect to women if they accept peace, because extremist persons who opposed women and their social activities, are no more in the movement.
A women’s rights activist hoped that this year, intra-Afghan peace dialogues would replace seasonal fight when the weather gets warm.
Women representative in Paktia also demanded that all the peace talk details be shared with Afghans.
They called on women to also encourage their children take part for social stability.
