AT-KABUL: The Janikhil district of Paktia has fallen to Taliban hand after clashes on Tuesday morning.
“In order to prevent civilian casualties, Afghan police retreated from Janikhil district,” said Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the ministry of defense.
He said that Army and Police forces located near to the district center and soon operation will be started to recapture the district.
He said that additional forces will be dispatched to the district for supporting forces during operation.
Taliban in a statement said that Janikhil district, police headquarters captured by their fighters after clashes with the governmental forces.
It is pertained to mention that in the past three day, three districts have fallen to Taliban hand.
Koistan district of Northern Faryab and Tayware district of Western Ghor have fallen to Taliban hand on Sunday.
