Parliament asks government to introduce nominees, end acting ministers

By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: The Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) of Parliament on Monday criticized the government for delaying in introducing candidates for the ministries run by acting ministers and urged President to introduce new nominees as soon as possible.

“President must introduce new nominees to the parliament for the ministries operating by caretakers,” said Wolesi Jirga First Deputy Humayon Humayon.

Criticizing National Unity Government for delay in introducing candidates, he said that during a meeting before interpolation of security officials, president has pledged to introduce new nominee to replace the ministers have been disqualified by Wolesi Jirga.

He said that unfortunately president playing politically with parliament.

Continuation of duty by acting ministers is a clear sign of breach of constitution as well as violation of Wolesi Jirga duty regulations, he added.

We are not faced to famine of figures, acting minister must be fired and new nominees should be introduced to Parliament, he insisted.

Complaining regarding bad-behavior of acting ministers with lawmakers, he said that under pretext that parliamentarians have no the right to summon and disqualify caretakers, thus they won’t follow lawmakers suggestions.

He said that if cartaker culture not ended, clients work won’t be executed, thus we seriously ask president to introduce new nominees for parliament.

“If president not introduce new nominees, then Wolesi Jirga will lose its legal bases and NUG will be introduced as a dictator administration than a democratic,” he underlined.

It is pertained to mention that around three months ago due to failure in spending budgetary allocations during the last Afghan fiscal year lawmakers have sacked seven ministers including Ministers of Foreign Affairs Salahuddin Rabbani, Labor and Social Affairs Nasrin Oryakhil, Public Work Mahmoud Baligh, Education Assadullah Hanif Balkhi, Transport and Civil Aviation Mohammadullah Batash, Minister of Technology and Higher Education Farida Mohamand.
