By Akhtar M. Nikzad-KABUL: The Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of parliament on Wednesday interpellated Delbar Nazari, Minister of Women Affairs on her week management, misusing authorities and nepotism in the ministry.
A number of lawmakers claimed that she had weak management and engaged her family members in the important posts of the ministry.
They illustrated that the minister misused ministry’s budget for buying many expensive furniture in her house and employed the some workers of the ministry for her family service.
Lawmaker Kobra Mostafawi claimed that the son of Nazari’s advisor had raped a woman in the ministry and she offered her complains to the Wolesi Jirga.
He pointed out that Nazari appointed her mother-in-law, sister- in-law and many other relatives in the ministry, ousting many other competent employees.
“Sexual assault on a female employee by the son of minister’s adviser is a great disgrace that should be prosecuted,” she asserted.
Raihana Azad, another MP also accused the minister of negligence for supporting women’s rights and stressed that the current minister damaged all formation of the women administration.
“Existence of current minister will hinder international aids and it will inflict heavy damages for women rights in the country,” she mentioned.
Nazari rejected the claims about sexual assault on a woman in the ministry and asked lawmakers for obvious evidence and documents in this regard.
The remarks of the minister welcomed by applauses of some lawmakers and she got vote of confidence by majority of lawmakers and saved her position once again.
