AT-KABUL: Pashtun-Baloch Solidarity Day was marked in an event organized by the Ministry of Border and Tribal Affairs here in Kabul, aimed to strengthen brotherly and historical ties between the Baloch and Pashtun people further.
A number of the cabinet members, parliamentarians, tribal leaders, poets and writers participated in the ceremony. Sunbula 9 (sixth month of solar year) is marked as Pashtun-Baloch Solidarity Day since 1955.
The Deputy Minister of Border and Tribal Affairs, Abdul Ghafoor Lewal, said that after the de-facto Durand Line was drawn on chest of the people, Pashtuns and Balochs were treated unfairly. He said the two nations were oppressed and even their freedom was also threatened.
“A grand Jirga, (assembly) was organized in Paghman, where Pashtuns and Balochs leaders pledged to work for their rights and political redline,” he added.
Lewal said that from that day this solidarity day between the two brotherly nations are commemorated in Afghanistan.
At the end of the ceremony, a number of poets read out their poems about the solidarity day, unity and brotherhood between the two nations.
The speakers said that some state actors are active to destabilize areas, where the two groups are living, to achieve their evil goals.
They also shed light on lifestyle, history and culture of both Pashtuns and Balochs.
They said the two nations have helped each other in difficult times and stood against their common enemy.
They said that the two nations have no enmity, but are victimized by “by their common enemy”.
