AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Effective measures are needed for peace in the region, an imperative for Pakistan and Afghanistan, a senior politician says.
Concerted efforts were required to put an end to the bloodshed in the region, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) head Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said.
Addressing party workers here on Saturday, the ex-interior minister called for removing the trust deficit between the neighbours.
Enhanced government-to-government and people-to-people contacts were needed to promote goodwill and harmony, the former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister suggested.
His party, if voted into power, would do its level best to remove the growing sense of deprivation among Pakhtuns and would struggle for their rights, he pledged.
“Pakhtuns are passing through a critical time of their history and if they do not get united, they would be pushed further into crises,” he remarked.
