AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A number of civil society activists in Bamyan province came hard of the peace negotiations with the Taliban, on Sunday, as they termed it a mirage. They said there is drastic need of peace talks overhaul.
Talking to the newsmen, Ibrahim Tola, a civil society activist, said that terrorist activities are steadily on the surge across the country following peace talks with the Taliban. “The more the peace process with the Taliban insurgents is becoming formal the more it gives birth to insurgency and suicide attacks,” he remarked. He said that government should change its strategy in peace talks and instead hold talks with the regional intelligence agencies. “If the government want to have tangible results in peace talks it should hold talks with Pakistan directly,” he said.
Security forces failed to prevent suicide truck bombing in the capital Kabul in which hundreds of civilians were killed and injured, he said.
In a media statement issued by the network, they said that the insurgents should announce ceasefire across the country, if they continue insurgency the government should not hold talks with them.
They also called on Hajj and Religious Affairs Ministry to pay due attention in seminaries and religious schools in order to avoid further extremism in the country.
While terming peace process unproductive, Mohammad Reza Ibrahim, Bamyan university lecturer, said the government should revise its policy as peace process had not yield fruitful results.
