AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) on Monday said that an assassination plot of terrorists to kill Laghman NDS chief was thwarted.
In a press statement issued here, the spy agency said that after receiving a tip-off the intelligence personal conducted an operation in Mehtarlam city of Laghman province and arrested Abdul Basir and his colleague Etbal Gul, who planned to assassinate the provincial chief of the NDS.
The alleged terrorists wanted to assassinate the provincial head of the spy agency while carrying out a suicide attack. The arrested would-be suicide bomber confessed that he was tasked by Mawlawi Waseequllah, a senior Taliban commander, to kill the Laghman NDS chief. Mawlawi Saseequllah was involved in assassination of Sayda Jan, a local police commander, as well.
