KABUL: A deputy police chief along with five soldiers was martyred during a Taliban attack in northern Samangan province on Monday night, provincial officials said.
Deputy Police chief of Samangan Khawani Taheri along with his five comrades were martyred and three others wounded, after clashes with Taliban in Zerakai area of Dar-e-Suf district in Samangan, said Samangan Police Spokesman Munir Rahimi.
He said that since two-day Afghan forces have conducted clearance operation in different area of Dar-e-Suf, where several villages cleaned from Taliban.
Last night Taliban massively attacked number of check points, who faced strict resistance of Afghan police forces, which as result 30 Taliban fighters were killed, he added.
He said that unfortunately Deputy Police chief along with five police were also martyred and three others wounded during clashes.
Taliban Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in telegram confirmed their fighters attack on police check points in Dar-e-Suf district.
