KABUL: The Independent Election Commission (IEC) called on theIndependent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) to announce the final results for parliamentary votes of 15 remaining provinces as soon as possible.
Abdul Aziz Ebrahimi, deputy spokesman of election commission said on Monday that the election commission had already handed all the documents and evidences to the complaint commission, but the latterwas yetto announce the final results of 15 provinces.
The commission has so far announced final results from 18 provinces of the October 20th legislative polls. The results of 15 provinces including capital Kabul are yet to be announced.
Ebrahimi said the complaints commission should probethe complaints timely and in accordance with the protests law and return the results to the independent election commission.
The delay in announcing final results by the complaint commission has changed to a matter of serious concerns for the election commission.
Nasir Fayaz,a commissioner of the electoral complaints commission said that the results of the provinces of Logar, Ghor, Badghis, Paktia, and Heart were completed and ready for announcementand the commission was working to finalize the results of 10 other provinces.
Announcement of the parliamentary election results sparked numerous protests by some candidates who failed to secure enough votes. They accuse the two electoral bodies of fraud in the announcement.
