Markus Potzel, the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan, has visited Tajikistan and Uzbekistan for the purpose of discussing regional cooperation with officials of these countries.
UNAMA announced that during his visit this week, Mr. Putzel will discuss with the government officials of both countries about strengthening regional cooperation with Afghanistan.
He has met the officials of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in the capital Dushanbe and discussed with them the strengthening of regional cooperation with Afghanistan.
He may also have meetings with Afghan diaspora in those countries.
Representatives of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participated in Moscow format summit and agreed with all participants to increase regional coordination and efforts for dialogue between Afghans and stability and security in the region.
Meanwhile Central Asia countries and Russia have repeatedly expressed their concern about the spread of terrorism from Afghanistan northern borders to their countries.
