KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday attended 96th Independence Day celebrations by laying a floral wreath at the Freedom Monument in Kabul.
The ceremony was held with national zeal and fervor as national anthem was played and security forces presented a guard of honour to pay tribute to the leader.
Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Abdullah Abdullah, former president Hamid Karzai, First Deputy CEO Eng. Mohammad Khan and several other high-ranking officials, clerics, Afghan National Army (ANA) generals, NATO senior commander, ambassadors and diplomats attended the ceremony to commemorate the day.
