AT-KABUL: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KBZF) with support of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Kabul provided relief assistance to the earthquake victims in eastern Kunar province. In October 2015, a power earthquake hit Afghanistan which claimed lives of several people and left many injured.
A press statement issued here said that following order of the president of the UAE, Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and the deputy commander of the armed forces Muhammad Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, and Prime Minister and Head of the Foundation Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the charity foundation assisted over 2,500 earthquake affected families in eastern Kunar province.
Each family received 50kg flour, 10kg cooking oil, 10kg sugar, 10kg bean and four blankets. The relief items were distributed among the affected families in Shokai district and Asadabad, the provincial capital.
The UAE Charge de Affairs Juma al-Kaabi said that the relief items were distributed with coordination of the provincial officials.
The charity foundation will continue its assistance and support to the needy and affected people in different provinces of Afghanistan in the future, he said.
Recently, the KBZF has also helped earthquake-affected people in Badakhshan and Takhar provinces.
Beneficiaries and the government officials, including the provincial governor, voiced pleasure over distribution of relief items to earthquake affected people in the province.
