KABUL: Dozens of young athletes set offa running competition on the occasion of the New Year and support peace process in the northern province of Kunduz.
Abdul QayyoumRahimi, head of provincial sports department said on Wednesdaycontents in other sports fields would be also launched there during different events this year.
“The match wasparticipated by 90 athletes thatwas overwell and theathletes who managed to secure positions from first to third,were encouraged by awards,” said Rahimi.
However, Mohammad who claimed the first position in the competition said that “all the youth are tired of war and destruction and want a permanent peace in the country.”
“My message toall the youth isto join sports world becausethe people are tired of war and bloodshed in the country.And we want peace and I wantall the youth toexercise sports and win honors for their country.”
