AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The UN special envoy for Afghanistan Nicholas Haysom called on the neighboring countries of Afghanistan to assist the Afghan government in war on terror while noting that citizens of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries are engaged in the ongoing war in the country.
In a meeting with local officials in northern Faryab province, Haysom said the neighboring countries of Afghanistan have the responsibility to support the Afghan government.
He said that most of militants from regional countries are fighting in Afghanistan, adding that the regional countries should help Kabul in war on terror.
Haysom added that he held talks with local officials in Faryab about growing security issues in the province.
This comes after Faryab security situation has deteriorated over past few months.
Last week, nearly 19 people were killed and scores others were wounded after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives in a busy market in Almar district in Faryab.
