AT-KABUL: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KBZF) with support of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy provided relief assistance to the recent earthquake victims in northern Badakhshan province.
A press statement issued here on Tuesday said that following order of the president of the UAE, Khalifa Bin Zahid Al-Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, the deputy commander of the armed forces and the deputy prime minister Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the charity foundation assisted over 2,000 affected families in Badakhshan province.
Each family received 50kg of flour, 10kg of cooking oil, 10kg of sugar, 10kg bean and four blankets. The relief items were distributed among the affected families in Faizabad, the provincial capital.
UAE Ambassador in Kabul, Yusof Saif Saba Al-Ali, said that the relief items were distributed in coordination with the provincial officials.
The charity foundation will continue its assistance and support to the needy and affected people in different provinces of Afghanistan, he said.
The KBZF has also helped flood-affected people in the northern provinces.
Beneficiaries and the government officials, including the provincial governor, voiced pleasure over distribution of relief items to earthquake affected people in the province.
It is pertinent to mention that around five weeks ago a powerful earthquake shook Afghanistan, which killed and wounded over 600 people and destroy hundreds of houses in different provinces across the country.
