Kabul: Afghan Retirees in the capital city staged a protest once more, demanding their retirement pensions from the interim government.
Expressing frustration over the delayed payments, they highlighted their repeated demonstrations without any action from the current Afghan administration. According to Tolonews Abdul Khaliq, a retiree with 35 years of service, questioned why their pensions were not being disbursed despite their dedicated service. Ghulam Siddiq echoed the plea, emphasizing the dire situation many retirees face, resorting to begging to support their families. Ghulam Hazrat, who spent a decade serving the Kabul Municipality, now struggles to make ends meet and urges the authorities to honor their retirement rights.
Despite previous protests, the Afghan interim administration spokesperson mentioned finalizing pension payment laws, awaiting approval from the leadership.
