Kabul: Two back to back road accidents killed at least 11 people and wounded 46 others in Afghanistan’s northern Baghlan province late on Saturday, local officials confirmed Sunday.
The first accident took place on Saturday evening as two passenger buses collided with each other in the Kilagai area of Dushi district, killing three commuters and wounding seven others, Mawlawi Shir Ahmad Burhani, the provincial police spokesman, told reporters.
Minutes later in the same area of Dushi district, another passenger bus turned turtle and plunged into a ditch, leaving eight travelers dead and 39 others injured, a local traffic official Nezamudin told Xinhua.
Reckless driving and poor road conditions often led to deadly road accidents in mountainous Afghanistan.
