AT-KABUL: At least seven civilians were killed after their vehicle hit with a roadside mine in the Sayedkhel district of northern Parwan province, local official said on Tuesday.
Ahmad Lamar Usmanyar, the town’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the slain people were the residents of Shirin Jan village and among them one was the village elders.
“Their vehicle struck to a roadside bomb as they were heading toward Kapisa province to attend a wedding ceremony,” he said.
However, no group including the Taliban outfit, who often thumped its chest for such attacks, have comment into the matter so far.
The Taliban and other militant outfits used Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as their significant weapon in fight against Afghan and foreign forces. But, unfortunately civilian are the worst victims.
There is no province where IED did not kill civilians. Recently, 12 civilians were killed in roadside blasts in southern Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces. Moreover in Ghazni, four civilians were killed in a roadside bombing. In the past six civilians were killed and 40 others wounded in a roadside bombing in the northern province of Jawzjan province.
Taking this into account, it is very important that all parties to the conflict should take precautions to avoid civilian causalities during their operations.
