AT-Kabul: A rocket, fired by militants, hit on Thursday a gathering of people celebrating Independence Day in Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province in which at least two people were killed and nearly 50 injured, officials said.
At least three mortars were fired by Taliban from the hilltops around the Asadabad city, killing two and wounding 50 civilians, who were gathered to celebrate the 97 anniversary of the Afghanistan Independence Day, governor spokesman, Ghani Musamim said.
All injured from the attack were under treatment in provincial hospital he said most of the victims received minor injuries in the attack.
Taliban yet to comment on the attack.
