KABUL – In a recent recent interview, Dmitry Zhirnov, the Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan, made several claims regarding Western countries’ exploitation and destabilization efforts worldwide.
Zhirnov accused Western nations, led by the United States, of parasitically living off the rest of the world and engaging in plunder. He argued that the so-called “rules-based international order” promoted by the West is, in fact, a form of new colonization. According to Zhirnov, this system undermines the sovereignty of independent governments, even when major powers adopt a non-interventionist stance in conflicts.
The ambassador pointed to various methods employed by Western powers to exert pressure on governments, citing the International Criminal Court as an example. Zhirnov claimed that the court, allegedly acting at the behest of the West, lacks impartiality and makes politically motivated decisions.
Highlighting unilateral economic sanctions, Zhirnov labeled them as abnormal elements of neo-colonialism, asserting that these measures force third-world countries to comply with Western dictates.
Moreover, Zhirnov accused the West of not shying away from military interventions and destabilizing activities globally. He specifically referenced the situation in Ukraine, emphasizing that Russia was left with no choice but to initiate a special military operation on February 24, 2022. The operation aimed to defend and protect the Donbas region, prevent the militarization and Nazification of Ukraine, and address threats to Russia’s security originating from Ukrainian territory.
