AT-KABUL: As the country’s economy is dwindling and most of uplift projects have been left incomplete, the President’s Special Envoy for Reforms and Good Governance, Ahmad Zia Massoud, on Monday said that internal strife between the National Unity Government (NUG) leaders has created hurdles for development in every sector.
Massoud told reporters that the two leaders’ rifts on distribution of government’s post have affected development in the country. “They have been busy in this trend for past eight months,” he added.
Hinting at governance system in other countries, he said politics is detached from the system but here the issue is vice versa. “Our system witnessed big changes when new faces came into power,” he remarked.
Concerned over firing of Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Services Commission (IARCSC) officials, Massoud said the NUG leaders should not politicize the government institutions and allow experienced and professional officials to continue their work. He warned that the government will lose public support if its weak performance prevails.
