AT News Report-KABUL: Both, the Afghan security forces and their anti-group–Taliban and other militant outfits—have been taking shield in schools while battling each other, a tutoring official said on Monday.
Commenting on the issue with expressing concerns over it, spokesman for the Ministry of Education, Kabir Haqmal said about 67 schools are currently using as military bases across the country.
“Some of these schools are being used by the Afghan national security and defense forces while others by the anti-government forces,” ariananews quoted him, as saying.
According to the officials, more than a thousand schools are still closed across the country where millions of students are deprived of education.
However, the ministry of interior brushed aside the report of using schools, but it is quite clear that the extremist groups turned schools and other civilian institutions as their military bases to escape the iron hand of the brave Afghan security forces.
“There has been no incident where the Afghan forces have used schools as military bases. Unfortunately, the Taliban militants are still using schools and madrassas as their strongholds,” interior ministry spokesman, Najib Danish said.
Meanwhile, Fatima Nazari, a member of the lower house of parliament urges the government to pay more attention to the closed schools since “it is depriving children of education which is their legitimate right”.
This is worth mentioning that the Taliban and Daesh militants remained one of key obstacles ahead of education, and doing their level best to prevent students, especially, the girls from going to schools.
Recently, the enemies of education had put two schools in ablaze in Logar and Nangarhar provinces with sole aim of creating anti-education environment for the students–but nothing was, and will prevent Afghan massed for pursing education.
