KABUL: The ministry of education announced the reopening of all schools after a long shutdown due to the rising COVID-19 infections.
The ministry spokesman Najiba Aryan said the decision was taken by joint committee of the ministry of higher education, the ministry of public health and the ministry of education.
She said that all governmental and non-governmental schools reopened on 24th July and the students’ midterm exams will be held on 28th July.
She said the final exams for hot provinces would began on 28th July and the schools would be formally reopened after summer vocation.
Meanwhile, the ministry of higher education said that educational institutions could be reopened on condition that students heed to health guidelines and receive vaccine.
The ministry spokesman Hanif Farzan said that all private institutions would be reopened on 26th July.
This comes as the ministry of public health said that coronavirus is a serious challenge and therefore schools must be reopened gradually to contain the further spread of the deadly virus.
The ministry spokesman Mirwias Alizai called on students to take precautionary measures while attending schools.
Earlier, governmental and non-governmental institutions were closed due to the rising coronavirus infections.
