AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Afghan security forces captured a Taliban base in Dasht-e-Archi district of northern Kunduz province, said a security official.
Hamid Saifi, a commander of Afghan National Army (ANA), told TOLOnews that after collapse of Kunduz city, the Taliban militants have transferred the military equipment seized from Afghan forces to the base.
Saifi said that security force have made tangible achievements during recent offensives against the Taliban militants in Dasht-e-Archi district.
“Our troops wanted to prevent from escape of insurgents to other areas during the operations,” he added.
He said that they have retaken the district, however, some of the insurgents managed to flee the area.
This comes at a time that, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah during plenary session of the Council of Ministers on Monday said the operations will be ongoing till elimination of all militants in the district.
According to reports, 90 Taliban militants have been killed in the operations.
