KABUL: At least 22 Taliban militants have been killed and 14 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Tuesday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Helmand, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Kandahar, Logar, Laghman, Herat and Nangarhar provinces, in which 22 militants were killed and 14 others wounded. Afghan forces arrested five rebels and handed them over to the judicial organs for further inquiry.
The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations, seven insurgents were killed, three wounded and one hideout was destroyed in Nahar Saraj district of Helmand—five militants killed and two others wounded in Deh Rahwod district of Uruzgan—three rebels killed and four others injured in Andar district of Ghazni, two militants killed and three others wounded in Trenkut-Kandahar highways.
Similarly, two insurgents were killed and two suspects arrested in Bland Ab village of the related capital of Logar—two rebels killed and another injured in Dawlat Shah district of Laghman—one militants killed in Shindand district of Herat and three suspects were detained in Ghani Khil district of Nangarhar province.
In past 24 hours, 15 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
