AT-KABUL: Forty-eight Taliban fighters were killed and 25 others wounded in different operations launched by the security forces in the past 24 hours, security officials said Saturday.
“The National Army launched in a series of joint operations with the national police and National Directorate of Security (NDS) have in different areas of Farah, Baghlan, Kabul, Jawzjan, Paktia, Paktika, Kunduz, Uruzgan, Khost, Ghazni and Nuristan provinces,” defense ministry said in a statement. “In these operations, 48 rebels were killed and 25 others were injured.”
It said that 17 insurgents were also arrested in the operations.
Unfortunately, three army soldiers were killed in an enemy firing during the operations, said the statement.
Also, the security forces discovered and confiscated a large number of weapons and ammunition in the militants’ hideouts, mentioned the statement.
