AT Monitoring-KABUL: The Afghan security forces on Wednesday, recaptured the Fanduqistan valley of Parwan’s Siahgard district from Taliban insurgents, an official said.
Security forces took control over Fanduqistan valley, following a five-day battle.
Mohammad Haroon Mubarez, public order police commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghan the security forces regained the strategic valley on the cost of zero casualties.
He said, the Afghan National Army (ANA), Afghan National Police (ANP) and Public Order Police personnel took part in the military operation, supported by Afghan Air Force.
He added: “The Taliban militants suffered casualties but exact figures are not yet available. Only one Public Order Police official was injured during offensive.”
However, provincial council member Qari Abdur Rahman Ahmadi said some parts of the valley were still under Taliban control where fierce clashes were underway.
The Taliban insurgents seized the valley as a result of a coordinated attack on Friday.
Local officials claimed the militants have been tortured residents and looted their houses after taking control over the area.
Seven civilians were also killed or injured during the five-day battle between Afghan security forces and the militants. Officials said two young girls, residents of the area, were among the dead.
Moreover, Police chief, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zaman Mamozai, said 30 Taliban rebels were killed during the operation. He added the number of the militants injured was not known.
