KABUL: The Taliban rebels overran two security outposts in Sayedabad district of central Wardak province, an official said on Monday.
Provincial Governor Abdul Rahman Tariq confirmed that the security forces retreated from the outposts after the Taliban staged attacks from various directions. The weapons and ammunition of the outposts were also evacuated, he said.
Deputy Provincial Council Member, Sharifullah Hotak said the comrades of the outposts joint the Taliban insurgency.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid also confirmed the surrender of security forces to group’s fighters.
Wardak is insecure province where Taliban are strongly active in many parts of the province, most of the times fierce clashes erupt between the secuirty forces and the militants.
