AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Chief of Army Staff, Qadam Shah Shaheem, said that security situation has improved in northern Faryab province.
Shaheem in an interview with Radio Azadi rejected reports that the Taliban militants have captured some important areas of the province and said that Afghan forces will soon weed the Taliban militants out of the province.
He also rejected allegations of a number of lawmakers regarding lack of coordination among security forces. He said that the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) are currently leading war against militants in Faryab province.
He added that they have taken all necessary preparations to clear Faryab and other northern provinces from the presence of militants.
When asked about Vice-President Abdul Rashid Dostum’s recent trip to Faryab province, Shaheem said that Dostum’s trip to the province is aimed at expressing support of the political leadership of the country to security forces.
According to security agencies, the Taliban along with a number of foreigners are hell bent on deteriorating security of three districts of Faryab and a number of other northern provinces.
