KABUL: Provincial Governor on Thursday said that security has been improved in the past year in Logar province.
Speaking at a press conference here, Logar Governor Niaz Mohammad Amiri said that no serious attack was carried out over government departments, oil-tankers and foreign convoy on Logar-Kabul and Logar -Gardiz highways, which reveal security progress.
He said that although there are some clusters including some foreign citizens in certain districts in Logar, where they attempt to make the province insecure, but their plans were foiled by security forces in the province.
“Taliban and foreign militants don’t have the power to seize control of any district in Logar. They just try to create fear among people in the province,” he said.
Pointing to Mes Ainak copper mine project, he said that security and local issues have been resolved in and around the area and situation was better.
Some 266 schools are open in Logar province. Around 150,000 students including 50,000 girls are going to schools in different districts of the province, he added.
Different construction projects at total cost of around $10 million are underway in the province, he noted.
