AT-KABUL: A commander of the Haqqani network and a Taliban’s shadow governor were killed along 50 other militants during a ground and air operation in the southeastern Paktika province, security official said on Wednesday.
The ministry of interior said in a statement that a key Haqqani network commander, Wahid known as Jamshid and his three associates were killed in an operation carried out in Sardani Hindi village of the Warmami district on Tuesday.
Moreover, 46 Taliban, including the group’s designated governor were killed in Tandi Boza area of the Terwa district of the province. The ministry said that the Taliban insurgents were killed in an airstrike.
It furthered that some heavy and light weapons of the group were also destroyed in the operation.
Anti-militants operation is going successful in the province, the ministry said, adding that security forces and civilians were not harmed during the raids.
