KABUL: Seven members of the Daesh terrorist group including their head of media branch were arrested in the eastern province of Nangarhar.
Attaullah Khogyani, provincial spokesman, said Friday that that the terrorists were arrested in an operation launched by the intelligence agency’s operatives in the Sorkhrod district.
He assured that no civilian casualties were reported in the operation launched in the Sayyaf Family neighborhood of the Sorkhrod district.
Nangarhar in the east that shares border with Pakistan’s tribal regions and the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province, is an insecure area. The Daesh terrorist group announced its presence for the first time in 2014 in the province.
The government of Afghanistan claims that the Daesh terrorist group was completely removed in Nangarhar, but the group seems to be still active there.
