KABUL: The Afghan law enforcement agencies arrested seven people in connection with drug-related crimes, and have been sentenced to short and long incarceration in the past one month.
The courts of Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) in a statement said the primary and appeal court of CJTF have convicted seven smugglers to short and long-term imprisons.
Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) has seized over 9kg heroin, over 7kg crystal and 21g morphine from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, the statement added.
Statement said that after examining their evidences and arguments from both sides, the CJTF courts have convicted the accused traffickers.
Statement added that at the same period CNP succeeded to apprehend 35 drug runners during different operation, handing them over for further inquiry.
Out of 35 arrested drug runners, four of them planned to smuggle heroin and hashish through Hamid Karzai International Airport to India, who were identified and detained.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and would be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics law of Afghanistan.
