AT-KABUL: Seven troops killed after an army helicopter crashed in northern Baghlan province Sunday morning, the defense ministry confirmed.
“An army helicopter crashed due to technical problems at 4:00am, in which all seven onboard including four crews and three army soldiers were killed in Qurghan Tepa area of Baghlan province,” said Dawlat Waziri, a spokesman for the ministry.
“Two May-17 helicopters were trying to provide logistics to the Afghan ground forces in Qughan Tepa area in Baghlan province, where one of the choppers landed in the army base and the second one caught fire in the sky and crashed due to technical problem.”
Meanwhile, Taliban in a statement claimed that they shot the chopper down while trying to throw logistics to an Afghan base.
Taliban Spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid quoted by the statement said that the Afghan base in the area was under siege of Taliban.
