AT-KABUL: At least seven Afghan National Army soldiers have been martyred in a Taliban attack in their checkpoint in eastern Nangarhar province, local officials said Monday.

The incident occurred in Farsh area of Ghani Khail district after Taliban insurgents stormed a security checkpoint, leaving casualties to the security forces.

Provincial governor spokesman, Ataullah Khogyani confirmed the attack, saying, Taliban insurgents also suffered heavy casualties in retaliation attack by Afghan security forces. However, he did not provide exact details of Taliban fatalities.

The Taliban group has not commented into incident so far.
