AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Several villages of Sayyad district of northern Sar-i-Pul province have been cleared from the presence of Taliban insurgent during a clearing operation carried out by the Afghan security forces, an official said on Wednesday.
The operation comes after three days ago, the Taliban insurgents have captured at least 13 villages of Sayyad district. However, security forces succeed to clear the villages from the rebels.
Provincial police chief, Col. Abdul Qayum Baqizoy, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 10 villages in Sayaad district were cleared from militants during an operation currently ongoing in Shah Toot and other regions of the district.
Five militants have been killed during clearing operation, he said, adding that 10 others were received injures.
“Afghan security forces recaptured nine villages in Sayyad district form Taliban, Pajhwok Afghan News quoted a local resident at condition of anonymity, as saying.
The source added that three militants were killed and two members of an uprising group in the wounded in the offensives.
However, the Taliban insurgent did not comment to the incident so far.
