KABUL: Health officials in western Herat province said that covid-19 diagnostic laboratory has been temporarily closed due to lack of medical facilities. The laboratory would remain closed until the new medical instruments to be provided.
Head of Provincial Public Health, Abdul Hakim Tamana said that many of the country’s laboratories have been running out of these medical instruments which containing “VTM” and “RNA Extractor”.
According to him, these instruments are provided by the World Health Organization.
The problems have shared with the health ministry in Kabul, he said, adding that some medical stuff and instruments would be arrived by in earliest. The medical staff would be transferred by WHO throughout UNAMA airplane.
Tamana said the WHO has pledged to provide more medical facilities to combat coronavirus in Afghanistan.
This comes as since past five days, tens of covid-19 suspicious infected have been waiting for the result of their test.
Meanwhile, some experts warned that if the medical staff were not sent to Herat, the suspicious patients would spread the virus in the society, which will pose a dangerous human disaster.
Afghanistan has recorded 444 positive coronavirus cases, according to health officials. 14 patients have died and 20 others have been recovered.
