AT-KABUL: While 41 days are left for a complicated Wolesi Jirga and council districts election, criticism over electoral commission’s independence and system efforts of orchestrating ragging election, is still highly persist.

Grand National Coalition of Afghanistan said government has submitted a list of 400 candidates to the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to announce 200 of them as winners who support the government. The remaining would be pronounced failure.

A lawmaker from eastern Nangarhar province and a member of Grand National Coalition of Afghanistan, Hazrat Ali said Sunday that after receiving the list, now electoral body has been setting up a committee of four-member to identify the names.

This comes as Deputy Chief Executive Mohammad Mohaqiq said that national unity government is engaged in orchestrating fraudulent elections. He turned heat up on the government and the election panels for showing no political willingness for a transparent election. Mohaqiq said results of such elections marred with widespread fraud are not acceptable.

It has been times now that political parties raising concerns that elections with the ongoing faulty system will have dangerous pitfalls and will pave the ground once again for interferences of outsiders.

According to them, the forthcoming elections will be inundated with rigging as many counterfeited Tazkiras and stickers have already been distributed. A vote with such faulty pre-election campaign will have ‘chaotic consequences’ and cast shadow on legitimacy of elections.
