AT News Report-KABUL: An airstrike in northern Sar-i-Pul province, have killed six Taliban insurgents, while seven others of them received injuries, an official said on Friday.
Two commanders were among those killed in the overnight airstrike on Qari Bahram’s base in Nimdan area, Governor Mohammad Zahir Wahdat told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He identified the local Taliban commanders as Mullah Ismail — alias Sangaryar — and Qari Samiullah — who was also known as Mahaz.
Four heavy machineguns, a rocket, nine Kalashnikov assault rifles, a Ranger pick-up and seven motorbikes were destroyed as a result of the air raid, the governor said.
Wahdat added after the airstrike, Afghan National Army (ANA) commando Din Mohammad, who had been kidnapped by the Taliban, was also rescued.
