AT-KABUL: At least six Afghan soldiers and nine Taliban insurgents have been killed after the extremist group attacked Afghan army checkpoints in northern Sar-i-Pul province, provincial officials said Friday.
Provincial governor spokesman, Zabihullah Amani said seven Afghan National Army soldiers were also received injures in the attack on Thursday night in Sozma Qala district of the province.
Moreover, 13 Taliban members were also wounded in the gunbattle erupted after the attack.
The area is now under control, and the reinforcement already reached the district, he said.
There is no immediate say from Taliban insurgents over the attack, but the group always conducted attack against Afghan security forces in different parts of the country.
