AT News Report-KABUL: Eklil Hakimi, Minister of Finance and Tadamichi Yamamoto, UN Special Envoy for Afghanistan announced the outcomes of the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) through a press conference here in Kabul on Friday.
Hakimi congratulated the successful meeting to the people Afghanistan and said: “The bilateral commitments of the Afghan Government and the international community were carefully assessed, and we successfully completed the exam”.
He added: “We presented a detailed report of one year performance after the Brussels Conference to the International Donors and draw their satisfaction”.
Moreover, Tadamichi Yamamoto called the meeting important and said: “The discussion with Afghan Government was fruitful and fortunately it was able to fulfill most of its commitments”. He added: “I, On behalf of the United Nation, reaffirm our commitment in accordance with Afghanistan National Peace and Development Framework”.
The meeting was held for two days. The first session they discussed on women’s empowerment, state of the Afghan economy, and infrastructures development and on the second session, they discussed enabling private sector, implementation of priorities and challenges moving toward 2020, governance, reforming state institutions and anti-corruption, achievements and priorities of Afghan government and international community.
Furthermore, the Senior Official Meeting (SOM) was held in the presence of Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of Afghanistan, co-chaired by H.E. Minister of Finance and H.E. UN Special Envoy for Afghanistan. The representatives of more than 40 countries, international donors, United Nation non-government organizations, cabinet members, Heads of State Independent Entities, civil society and private sector members and members of the National Assembly.
