KABUL: A Taliban spokesman says that there are some circles that endeavor to lead the peace process toward a failure.
Suhail Shahin, the group’s political office spokesman based in Qatar, told Al Jazeera News on Sunday that some circles make efforts to make the ongoing talks between Taliban and the United States fail as the two sides have got closer to a deal.
Shahin said that they (the circles he mentioned) would not be able to lead the talks to a failure since Taliban are on a united stance and hold some “70 per cent of the ground” in Afghanistan.
He said that all their military officials were recommended to remain committed to an agreement gained with the United States, but they should be ready to answer any violations from “the others”.
The comments come as the week-long reduction in violence is going on and the US plans to sign the peace deal with Taliban on February 29th.
