AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Afghan Special Forces have killed at least thirty-five Taliban insurgents during operations in southeastern Khost province, an official said on Monday.
Police Chief Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghairat told Pajhwok Afghan News the Special Forces curried out air and ground operations codenamed (campaign) in Spin Gound, Chawi and Palocha areas of Nadershah Kot district on Monday night.
“35 militants, were killed, including key figures Qari Mir Abas, Mullah Hashim and 12 others notorious commanders,” he said.
Ghairat said “we received reports that 20 others militants have been wounded and 12 arrested and their several weapons remained in the clash site.”
He added that security forces also destroyed three important centers belonging to militants.
The Taliban increased their attacks in southeastern provinces particularly in Khost after the US announced its new strategy on Afghanistan.
The rebels have so far said nothing about the operations in Khost.
