KABUL: Ten Taliban insurgents have been killed and one other wounded in a raid conducted by the Afghan Special Forces in northern Faryab province on Monday, officials confirmed.
The Special Forces conducted a clearance operation in Khwaja Sabz Posh district of the province, where Taliban insurgents had held strongholds.
Acting Defense Minister, Asadulllah Khalid since taking office, has intensified operations against the Taliban insurgents across the country.
The 209 Shaheen Military corps had killed 80 Taliban insurgents, including 16 key commanders of the group in Qaysar and Ghomach districts of the province on June 21. 17 other Taliban militants were wounded.
The operation was launched after intelligence briefing suggested the Taliban had planned to storm the districts of the province.
It is worth mentioning that earlier this month, the government forces retook many districts across the country from the Taliban insurgents.
360 Afghan army soldiers along with air power took back Khoja Omeri district of Ghazni province from the Taliban rebels. The retake of the town raised hope to keep war at bay and away from provincial capitals of the country.
However, the widespread combat across the country between the government forces and the Taliban continues claiming dozen lives.
This comes as recently Hamdullah Mohib, the young National Security Advisor revealed that the government forces lost 50 members each day due to chronicle violence across the country.
