KABUL: The spy operatives on Saturday have detained 19 Taliban insurgents, including three commanders in southern Kandahar province.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) office in Kabul in a statement said its special forces arrested the 19 rebels in different parts of the province.
NDS put detained commander’s names as Norrullah aka Abu Zahar, Fateh and Hamidullah aka Saqib. However, the statement did not mention names of the 19 arrested militants.
One of arrested commanders was head of Taliban’s Red Unit in southern Zabul province, the statement noted.
The Taliban extremist group has yet to comment over the arrestment.
