AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Continual interference into internal affairs of Afghanistan could have negative consequences that will take Pakistan toward major crisis, said a key political figure in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tribal region of Pakistan.
Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chief, Mahmood Khan Achakzai has warned Islamabad regarding the persistent interference of Islamabad in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, something that could push Pakistan toward major calamity.
Speaking during a gathering in Quetta city, Achakzai warned that such interference would have a negative impact and could have even sabotage the efforts to establish the China and Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
It is worth mentioning that President Ashraf Ghani recently said that Afghanistan needs peace with Pakistan before peace can be forged with the Taliban. He said Pakistan also needs to stop interfering in Afghanistan’s internal affairs and instead cooperate with the National Unity Government. “The factory of interference must be closed in Afghanistan,” President Ghani said.
Achakzai further went on saying that Afghan-Pak relations won’t get normal until Afghanistan’s sovereignty was truly accepted and sought immediate steps to improve ties with Kabul, which would bring prosperity and development to Pakistan. He was of the view that Afghanistan and Pakistan were strategic partners, so it must be accepted as sovereign state. Moreover, he offered to play a role in boosting ties between the two neighboring countries.
