Suicide attacks un-Islamic act: OIC

AT-KABUL: Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen has strongly condemned the recent wave of suicide attacks in Afghanistan and termed it un-Islamic.

Ahead of the 2nd Kabul Process Conference to be held today, the statement of the Secretary General of OIC is of tremendous importance, needs to be followed by all the Islamic countries to isolate terror outfits and terror sponsor states in true letters and spirit.

“There can be no justification for any violent action and killing under the pretext of Holy Quran and Islam” Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen said.

In a statement issued to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the OIC Chief has slammed suicide attacks against civilians in Afghanistan and said the perpetrators of suicide attacks have been violating the principles and noble valves of the religion Islam.

He said suicide attackers did not represent the religion Islam.

The OIC Chief also referred to the resolution of the Council of OIC Foreign Ministers, endorsed by the Islamic Summit of heads of state and governments.

The OIC resolution had earlier emphasized on member countries and the international community to firmly back the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process.

“Spare no efforts in helping the Afghan government at this crucial time, considering its success would raise hopes for lasting peace, stability and economic prosperity of the country,” the OIC Chief appealed all Member states.

Moreover, the resolution by the Council of Foreign Ministers also urging all the member countries of the OIC and international community to support Afghan government in its fight against terrorism and the Muslim scholars should unanimously denounce the ongoing terrorism in Afghanistan and issue religious decrees (Fatwas) against terrorist outfits to prevail durable peace and stability by isolating and eliminating terrorists.
